Lectures and Public Speaking

Thor Ewing has wide experience in lecturing, storytelling, reading and public speaking with a variety of audiences.

As well as a formal lectures on a range of historical subjects (especially relating to Viking, Anglo-Saxon, Celtic and early medieval culture), Thor is also available for more informal talks.

Example subjects:

How the Vikings changed the world - Not just hairy marauders, the Vikings invented modern sea-faring and set the course for international trade and the modern economy. Though undoubtedly savage warriors, theirs was a sophisticated multi-cultural society which tolerated many faiths.

What are the clans? - For many people, the Scottish clans are synonymous with tartan, bagpipes and shortbread, or with the Jacobite Risings of the eighteenth century. But the real heyday of the clans was centuries before 1745, while clan gatherings are increasingly popular today. So, what are they, where did they come from, and how come they're still around?

Thor also provides popular Viking workshops for schools aimed at Key Stage 2 (age7-11).

Please contact Thor for more information if you would like him to speak at your event.
