The Clans of Scotland Foundation
Trustees
The Committee of Trustees will represent the Board of the Foundation. The Trustees shall establish a Constitution or Governing Document for the Clans Foundation based on discussions arising from this Discussion Paper.
Day-to-day work will be done by the employees of The Clans Foundation; most of the core work will be undertaken by the Director, who will be both trustee and employee. Other managerial and financial business will be the responsibility of staff and trustees, who will be appointed by the board. Most if not all trustees other than the Director are expected to be voluntary, at least in the first instance.
Other special Trustee Appointments:
* Chair
* Secretary
* Treasurer
As well as the Director, Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, a variable number of other trustees may be appointed. Their posts might or might not have specific titles. These trustees will be chosen to fulfil the range of tasks needed.
The trustees should be chosen to reflect a wide range of social backgrounds.
All trustees will be expected to have:
* A commitment to the clans as a part of Scottish society
* An interest in Scotland and Scottish society (Scottish residency is sufficient, but not essential)
* Time to attend meetings and fulfil specific roles where relevant
Among the trustees as a group, there should be:
* A creative approach to rebuilding the clans for the future
* A talent for communication
* An interest in social welfare
* At least one Clan Chief
* At least one historian with a knowledge of the clans in history
* Experience and skill in marketing and promotion
* Experience of writing and interpreting history for the general public
* Links with organisations involved with key areas of the Foundation’s work
* Skill building trust and co-operation with other organisations
* Skills and experience in business finance
* Skills and experience in business management
Because of potential involvement with children and vulnerable adults, all trustees must also be willing to provide a CRB Enhanced Disclosure certificate.
