Nordic Harp Meeting 2011

We had a great time in Denmark at the Nordic Harp Meeting, where I was leading workshops on lyre playing and on Anglo-Saxon and Viking poetry and music. The event was held at Broby Gamle Skole from 13th to 16th October 2011.

Ewing Family Association Gathering 2010

Imagine you could meet up with family who you haven’t seen for 300 years. That’s how long it is since the ancestors of many American Ewings set sail from Ulster, and new genetic evidence shows that they’re mostly relatives of mine – even if we haven’t yet managed to join the dots according to conventional genealogy. So when I was invited to join my American cousins for the Ewing Family Association Gathering in 2010, I was really curious and needless to say, I jumped at the chance to go.

I have always had a deep interest in our clan history, and I’ve long felt that the place of Ewings within the clan system has been sadly neglected and overlooked, so it was a great honour for me to be asked to attend the Clan Convention in Edinburgh in 2009.
